Data literacy - what's in the data
Ethical analytics requires that we make the invisible visible wherever possible. Much of our work in Ethics and Trust centres on the good data practices required to make sure the data is representative and appropriate for the intended use. It is also important to ensure that the same is true of the people involved in assessing and developing new technology. We help organisations to establish consultative processes to ensure that the people affected by their application (data subjects or service recipients) have a voice, leading to a better and more enduring product in our experience. We help establish round tables, user groups and citizen scientist programs.
We believe that product communities and society benefit when its citizens are data literate. We provide training to the data science community on ethical practice and inclusion, and citizen focused data awareness and analysis skills development aimed at raising data literacy in the community.
